Frostpunk 2's game director spoke about the importance of planning residential neighbourhoods and industrial zones in the ambitious strategy

Developers from 11 bit studios continue to familiarise gamers with the nuances of Frostpunk 2 strategy and released the second development diary.

Here's What We Know

The first City Unbound video focused on what happened in the thirty years since the first part of the series, now Frostpunk 2 game director Łukasz Juszczyk talked about the main element of the game - city building.

He characterised the project as a "city-building survival game" and noted that there are many similarities between survival games and strategy games about construction. The developer implies that in both genres, the player starts with a minimum of abilities and resources and must make the right decisions to get the right results.

In Frostpunk 2 cities are built in whole districts, so gamers need to plan the architecture of their settlement properly, because different types of buildings prevent each other from functioning. For example, an industrial zone pollutes the environment in residential areas and thus increases the tension in society, which can lead to a social explosion.

The location of the neighbourhood should also be taken into account: a side protected from the wind or with maximum sunlight will increase the energy efficiency of the building, which is especially important in ice age conditions.

When We Can Expect It

Frostpunk 2 will be released on the 20th of September. The game will initially be available only on PC, but will later be released on consoles as well and will be available in the Game Pass catalogue from day one.
