A cyberattack paralysed the largest trial court in the US
On Friday morning, 19 July, a cyberattack paralysed the computer system of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the largest trial court in the United States.
Here's What We Know
The attack forced the court to shut down its network systems, which will remain unavailable until at least the end of this weekend. Officials said the attack was unrelated to the recent CrowdStrike software update that caused disruptions to airlines, hospitals and government offices around the world.
Judicial authorities emphasised that a preliminary investigation did not reveal any leaks of user data. Thanks to significant investment in cybersecurity, the court was able to quickly detect the intrusion and respond promptly.
The investigation, remediation, and restoration of systems is currently underway. The court will not comment further until more information is available. The court said Sunday that it is actively working to restore network systems and will provide further guidance to users and jurors at a later date.
