Free horror game Silent Hill: The Short Message attracted 3 million players: Konami is happy with the public interest

The release of free psychological horror Silent Hill: The Short Message from Konami and HexaDrive studio took place on the 1st of February 2024 without any preliminary announcements.

Not all gamers appreciated and understood the new game of the famous franchise, which has little in common with its predecessors.

Here's What We Know

Despite the scepticism and criticism of gamers, Silent Hill: The Short Message attracted a lot of attention. As reported by the publisher Konami for six months the game was downloaded by 3 million PlayStation 5 users.

As the game is free to play, it's hard to judge its true success, but there's no denying that it has the right social message and if it has helped some young people recognise the issues, that's a win.

If you are not familiar with Silent Hill: The Short Message - we sincerely recommend it.

Plot Of The Game

Silent Hill: The Short Message is set in modern Germany. Anita finds herself in the apartment complex The Vill, where she comes in search of her friend Maya. Anita discovers that the building is abandoned and a creepy creature roams its corridors.

An interesting and topical nuance of the game is a clear demonstration of the destructive impact of social networks on people's psyche.

Flashback

Recently the authors of The Short Message announced a new game with the unusual title Niraya of ■■■. It will also be a horror, but in Japanese setting.
