Square Enix plans to release Final Fantasy XIV on Nintendo consoles: game director makes intriguing announcement
The popular multiplayer RPG Final Fantasy XIV remained a PlayStation and PC exclusive for many years, only to become available on the Xbox Series in early 2024.
There are also rumours of a standalone version of Final Fantasy XIV being developed for iOS and Android, and what's more, the game has A Chinese regulator has confirmed that Square Enix is developing a mobile version of the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, confirming its existence and imminent announcement.
But this may not be Square Enix's only step to popularise the successful MMORPG.
Here's What We Know
Game director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV Naoki Yoshida made an interesting statement in an interview with Gamereactor. He said that Square Enix wants to release the game on Nintendo consoles as well:
I'm sure everyone realises that we really want our game to be released on Nintendo consoles... That's why we're working towards that goal, we're constantly making progress and having discussions. I hope you're looking forward to some good news in the near future.
Notably, Yoshida never once mentioned "Nintendo Switch" in the interview, which could either mean nothing or indicate that Square Enix is actually planning to release Final Fantasy XIV on Nintendo's new console, which is expected to go on sale in 2025.
