The winner is clear: current sales of both Xbox Series consoles are more than twice as low as those of the PlayStation 5
Despite the fact that Microsoft does not publish official information on sales of Xbox consoles, it is probably clear to most that it has lost the console war to its competitor, the PlayStation 5. As if to confirm this fact once again, updated information on the commercial success of the consoles has recently appeared.
Here's What We Know
According to Aldora Intelligence in a video on the Wall Street Journal's YouTube channel, the total sales of Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X as of 30 June 2024 amounted to 28.3 million units. For comparison, as of the same date, Sony sold 61.7 million PlayStation 5 consoles, more than twice as many.
Even with Activision's acquisition of Blizzard and the addition of Call of Duty and Diablo IV to Game Pass, the overall trend in Xbox Series console sales is down. The reason is probably that almost all Xbox titles and Game Pass subscriptions are available on Windows, so most players choose the PlayStation 5 + PC bundle and get the benefits of both consoles.
