Betting on AI may let Capcom down: Monster Hunter Wilds system requirements have been published and they raise a lot of questions

Shortly after revealing a The colourful Monster Hunter Wilds trailer showed gameplay footage and revealed the release date of Capcom's new action game announcing the game's release date, Capcom has published its system requirements.

Here's What We Know

The game turned out to be quite demanding, but in addition to that Japanese developers seem to have decided instead of quality optimisation to rely on AI capabilities for frame generation and resolution scaling. And thus, initially low settings will turn into better graphics, but with this is associated with the need to have a powerful computer.

System Requirements

Minimum requirements (the game runs in 1080p at 30 fps, but this figure is achieved by upscaling from 720p at very low settings):

  • Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10;
  • processor: Intel Core i5-10600 or Intel Core i3-12100F; AMD Ryzen 5 3600;
  • graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (6 GB); AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6 GB);
  • RAM: 16 GB;
  • DirectX 12;
  • SSD space: 140 GB.

Recommended requirements (the game runs in 1080p at 60 fps at medium graphics settings, but the increase in fps is provided by generating frames with the help of AI):

  • Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10;
  • processor: Intel Core i5-11600K or Intel Core i5-12400; AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or AMD Ryzen 5 5500;
  • graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super (8 GB) or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (8 GB); AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB);
  • RAM: 16GB;
  • DirectX 12;
  • SSD space: 140GB.

Capcom also claims that Monster Hunter Wilds supports DirectStorage technology, which should speed up downloads and increase processing speeds.

It's worth noting that gamers have been left unhappy with the developers' reliance on AI, instead of doing their own optimisation work on the game. On Reddit, the public also notes that even in the trailer shown at State of Play, the performance of Monster Hunter Wilds leaves much to be desired and does not inspire optimism.

When We Can Expect It

Monster Hunter Wilds will release on 28 February 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
