OnePlus suspends smartphone sales in Germany over new patent dispute

OnePlus smartphones are once again banned from sale in Germany due to a new patent dispute with InterDigital, a company specialising in the development of wireless technologies including 5G.

Here's What We Know

InterDigital claims that OnePlus is using their patented technology without authorisation, which has led to a temporary halt in sales. Other OnePlus products such as the OnePlus Pad 2, Buds Pro 3 and Watch 2 remain available on the company's German website.

This is not the first time OnePlus has faced such issues in Germany. Earlier this year, the company settled a long-running dispute with Nokia, which also involved the use of patented technology without a licence. OnePlus said it values intellectual property rights and intends to resolve the issue with InterDigital through negotiations. Despite the current challenges, the company assured users that existing devices will continue to receive support and they remain committed to the European market.
