Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater promises to be an exemplary remake. The game fully corresponds to the style, plot and narrative of the cult stealth action of 2004, but it is made on a qualitatively new level and offers modern gamers several important innovations.

One of them will be a full-fledged third-person view and it is about it told the producer of the MGS franchise Noriaki Okamura and creative producer Yuji Korekado.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with Japanese edition of Famitsu the developers told that it was important for them to implement in the updated version of Snake Eater all the options available in modern action games, so the team devoted a lot of effort to the implementation of the third-person view, which was not in the original game. Instead of it, players were offered to either look at the protagonist as if from above, or switch to the first-person view, but in this mode it was impossible to move.

The developers mentioned that in Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, when the third-person camera is selected, it is behind the protagonist's shoulder and gives players a free view in all directions, but during aiming it shifts a little closer to the weapon. This mode is simply named New Style and is reminiscent of the camera from Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Interestingly, New Style simplifies the playthrough, so the developers recommend using the original camera for maximum thrill.

The New Style provides a wider and more linear view, and you can fire a gun while moving Snake around, which made the difficulty level lower than we expected. However, if we had changed anything to match the New Style, it would have made the old style too difficult. That's why we decided to separate the two camera types.

That said, just like in the original, players can switch to the first-person camera during combat to make it easier to shoot or view locations.

For those who want the most authentic gaming experience, Konami and Virtuos gameplay designers have left Legacy Style, which replicates the same camera from the original. It is possible to switch between the new and old modes, but not at any moment, but the developers did not explain in what situations this option is available. Perhaps the choice will have to be made before starting to play the game.

When We Can Expect It

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater will be released most likely in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
