Huawei launches NFC payments for GT 5, GT 5 Pro and Ultimate Green Edition watches

Huawei has announced an update for its smartwatches that includes the NFC payment function.

Here's What We Know

The new option will be available for Huawei Watch GT 5, Watch GT 5 Pro, and Watch Ultimate Green Edition models. It will allow users to make contactless purchases through the Quicko Wallet app without using smartphones or wallets.

According to the press release, NFC payments will be rolled out to Android users in Germany from December 2024. After that, the feature is expected to become available for iOS users in this country in the first half of 2025, but the exact release date has not yet been determined.

Quicko Wallet payments are already available in Poland, and rumours suggest that the innovation may be expanded to other countries for the Huawei Watch GT 5 series in 2025. However, it is not yet known whether owners of older watch models will be able to use this feature.
