UK to allocate over £3m for dog training and equipment

The United Kingdom has signed a £3.1 million contract with Von Wolf K9 Sport & Service Dog Equipment Limited for training, equipment and support for dogs.

Here's What We Know

More than 500 military dogs of various breeds from the British Army, Royal Air Force (RAF), Ministry of Defence (MOD) Police, German Security Service, MOD Security Service and regimental mascots will receive detection, protection and training equipment.

The five-year agreement, with a two-year extension, includes eye protection goggles, hearing protection for blast zones and fleece-lined paw protectors with rubber soles to protect against extreme temperatures and shrapnel.

Other items include cooling vests (when it's hot), flotation equipment for naval missions, and harnesses that are attached to soldiers during parachute jumps or rapid descents from helicopters.

This ensures that the dogs are well cared for and that they can detect explosives, weapons, vehicles and drugs, as well as provide protection and assistance to the handler.

"For us, this is more than just a business opportunity - it's a responsibility we take to heart, knowing that the safety and welfare of these amazing animals play a crucial role in the security of our country," said Von Wolf CEO Sally Dickinson.
