iPhone users in EU can now delete iOS App Store
Apple has announced a new feature that allows iPhone users in the EU to uninstall the iOS App Store, along with other built-in applications.
Here's What We Know
This decision was a response to pressure from European Union regulators seeking to open the market to alternative applications. The iOS 18.2 update also allows users to uninstall popular apps such as Calculator, Calendar, Music, Notes, Camera, Safari, Messages, and Photos.
Users will receive a special button in the settings to restore the App Store after it has been deleted. This is an important step to comply with the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Apple continues to fight for its principles, but the new changes demonstrate the company's readiness to adapt to new conditions. In addition, the update introduces a centralised interface for changing default apps, which simplifies the process of choosing alternatives.
