OpenAI introduced a competitor to Google Search: ChatGPT now knows how to search for information on the Internet

OpenAI has officially unveiled a new web search feature in ChatGPT that allows users to search for information on the web directly through a chatbot.

Here's What We Know

The feature, called ChatGPT Search, is integrated into ChatGPT and provides answers with links to relevant web sources. Users can get up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes and more.

OpenAI previously tested a prototype search engine called SearchGPT, which was available to a limited number of beta testers. The feature is now available on all ChatGPT platforms, including web, iOS, Android, macOS and Windows. However, access is still limited to ChatGPT Plus users, Team users, and those on the SearchGPT waitlist. Users of the free version will be able to take advantage of the new feature in the coming months.
