Apple may choose Samsung's W-OLED+CF technology for its budget Vision Pro headset
Apple is working on a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset and may reportedly choose Samsung's foldable display technology for this device.
Here's What We Know
Currently, the premium version of Vision Pro uses OLED on Silicon (OLEDoS) from Sony with a pixel density of 3391 ppi, which is not suitable for a budget model.
Therefore, Apple is considering alternatives, including W-OLED+CF technology, which is used by Samsung for foldable screens. This technology uses a colour filter that is created using a thin layer of material, which makes the display thinner.
For the budget version of the headset, the number of pixels per inch will be around 1500. This is significantly more than current foldable devices, where the maximum number of pixels per inch is 426.
Samsung Display will probably have to develop new screens with a higher pixel density for the XR headset.
