Google is preparing to add RAW photo capture support to more third-party camera apps with an update to its Jetpack CameraX library.
Here's What We Know
This will allow apps that use CameraX to save images without compression or processing, allowing for more editing options.
Currently, only apps that use the Android Camera2 API have RAW support.
CameraX did not previously support RAW format, which meant that only a few apps could shoot in this format. However, the CameraX 1.5.0 update will introduce new formats, including OUTPUT_FORMAT_RAW and OUTPUT_FORMAT_RAW_JPEG, which will allow you to save images in both RAW and JPEG formats. The RAW format will be saved in the Adobe DNG standard.
