LG introduces flexible LCD display that can be stretched, twisted and pulled
LG has unveiled a prototype of a flexible LCD display that can be stretched, twisted and pulled without compromising its functionality.
Here's What We Know
The new 12-inch display can be stretched up to 50% of its normal size without damage, opening up new possibilities for use in smartphones, tablets and even clothing. The prototype was unveiled on 8 November at LG Science Park in Seoul.
The new development uses micro-LEDs with a size of 40 microns and a resolution of 100 pixels per inch, which allows all colours of light to be displayed. The project started in 2020 with the support of the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and LG Display received a patent for the technology in 2023.
In addition, flexible displays integrated into clothing were presented at Seoul Fashion Week in September, demonstrating the potential of the new technology for future fashion collections.
