Zoom and Google Meet now unnecessary? Signal adds video calling and other improvements

Privacy-focused messaging app Signal is adding new video calling features including links, reactions and a call tab to become an alternative to Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

Here's What We Know

The main new feature is the Calls tab, which allows users to create new calls, manage call links, and view call history. Users can now create and share call links like they do in Meet, Zoom, and Teams. These links can be used for recurring meetings.

Management features are also available, such as the ability to name calls, manually allow participants to join or delete meetings. Participants can raise their hand to ask questions, just like in Meet. Users of Signal's desktop app can switch between grid, sidebar or speaker views. Signal is rolling out these features on iOS, Android and the desktop app.
