Ilon Musk amended his lawsuit against OpenAI to include Microsoft as a defendant
Elon Musk has filed a new lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of abandoning its non-profit mission. The updated lawsuit names Microsoft, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and former Microsoft vice president Dee Templeton among the defendants.
Here's What We Know
Musk alleges that OpenAI and Microsoft have entered into agreements that violate antitrust rules and that OpenAI is using Microsoft's infrastructure to eliminate competitors like xAI, Musk's company. The lawsuit also says that OpenAI unfairly benefits from Microsoft's resources, making it difficult for xAI to access computing power on similar terms.
Musk claims he was defrauded out of more than $44 million he donated to OpenAI and accuses OpenAI CEO Sam Altman of personally benefiting from deals between OpenAI and other companies. The lawsuit is a continuation of Musk's legal fight with OpenAI that began after he left the company in 2018.
