Microsoft has announced that the launch of the updated Xbox app on Android is delayed due to a temporary administrative suspension imposed by a court.

Here's What We Know

Despite the readiness of the functionality, the company is unable to launch the app as planned. The court order stems from a recent ruling requiring Google to allow other app shops to launch in the Play Store and use alternative billing systems. The updated app will allow users to buy and remotely play Xbox games through their phones.

While the PlayStation and Steam apps already allow users to buy games without using Google's billing system, the current Xbox app for Android does not offer this option. Microsoft continues to offer the Xbox Cloud Gaming feature that allows users to remotely play games on a subscription basis, but the app is only available on the Galaxy Store. The company is ready to launch the updated app once the court gives a final ruling.
