The world of the role-playing game Gothic is populated by many fantasy races and creatures and an integral part of the series are the orcs. They have always been positioned as huge green-skinned barbarians without clear goals and motivations, but in the remake of the first part this will change.

Here's What We Know

Speaking to Polish portal GryOnline, the head of Alkimia Interactive studio Reinhard Pollice said that Gothic Remake will feature more quests and events related to orcs.

The developers of the updated game want to take the opportunity to make the orcs more interesting and complex than they were in the original RPG (2001) and will try to reveal their culture and goals.

The remake will shed a little more light on them in many aspects - not only how they are shown, but also what interactions with them will be possible. Gothic is a game where you always have freedom of choice - this also applies to your relationship with the orcs. Over the course of the game, you will be able to earn their respect. In the original they could already tolerate you, but now things will go even further - you may not be able to join them, but you will learn a lot more about them and even complete a few quests related to them.

In the same conversation Reinhard Pollis mentioned that snow will appear in the Gothic remake, and they will try to bring back the voice actors who gave them their voice in the original game, but this is not possible in all cases.

When We Can Expect It

It is still unknown when Gothic Remake will be released. It is expected to be in 2025.

The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
