IT company Mozilla, best known as the developer of the Firefox browser, has announced the start of a rebranding and a major overhaul of its operating principles.

Here's What We Know

Mozilla unveiled a new logo and reported that it is "preparing for a new era of technology." The company's president, Mark Surman, commented on the innovations as follows:

Since we unveiled the source code for our browser more than 25 years ago, Mozilla's mission has been the same - to build and maintain technology in the public interest and, in the process, to foster more innovation, more competition and more choice on the web. Despite being at the forefront of privacy and open source, people weren't getting the full picture of what we were doing. We were missing opportunities to communicate with both new and existing users. This rebranding isn't just a facelift - we're laying the foundation for the next 25 years.

Mozilla is looking to become more open and recognisable and is starting to promote its own products more aggressively. It's time to offer users something more than Firefox, though the company isn't revealing what that will be.

The company believes the new design better reflects Mozilla's values, including protecting privacy, supporting open source software, and fostering communities.
