Google has introduced a new Gemini feature for Google Drive that allows users to quickly get a summary of the contents of folders before opening them in the web app.
Here's What We Know
This is a handy tool, especially for large folders where you need to get an overview of the contents without having to drill down into each file.
The function works very simply: just right-click on a folder and select "Summarise this folder". After that, Gemini opens a sidebar and shows a brief description of the folder's contents. Users can also drag the folder into the sidebar for a more detailed analysis.

The new feature works correctly for folders containing PDFs, text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. For example, Gemini can recognise images in a folder and provide information about the content, including well-known logos and branding.
Google said that the innovation began rolling out on 11 December and will be available to Google One AI Premium users, as well as Gemini Business, Enterprise, and Education Premium accounts over the next two weeks.
