A new rumour hints that Google may integrate Gemini Live into the Chrome browser on computers.

Here's What We Know

The rumour emerged after the X platform user @Leopeva64 discovered a button labelled GLIC in the Chromium code.

According to the information, clicking on the button opens a separate window with settings where you can control, in particular, access to the microphone. This may mean that Gemini Live will soon appear as a separate functionality in the Chrome browser.

Google has limited the availability of its voice assistant to mobile devices.

Gemini Live, which was released earlier this year, allows users to have natural two-way conversations with an AI assistant. It supports a variety of voices and can run in the background on a locked smartphone screen.

The button was found in the Chromium Gerrit code, which is used to collaborate on the Chromium project. Since then, it has been updated with a special icon in the system tray and the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts. However, it's worth noting that this is still just a rumour, and the GLIC acronym could stand for Gemini Live in Chrome, but it's not necessarily true.

Google recently announced the launch of Gemini Live in Ukrainian, allowing users to communicate with artificial intelligence in their native language.

This feature is already available on Android devices and will soon be available on iOS. Users can configure the language in the Google app by selecting Ukrainian or another supported language.
