Hyundai and Kia have integrated all greenhouse emission monitoring systems into a single platform
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have launched the Integrated Greenhouse Gas Information System (IGIS). This platform tracks carbon emissions at all stages of a vehicle's lifecycle, from raw material extraction to disposal.
What is IGIS?
Prior to the introduction of IGIS, Hyundai and Kia used several different systems such as Global Energy Monitoring System (GEMS) and Supply Chain Emissions Management System (SCEMS), which operated independently of each other. IGIS has now combined all of these tools into a single platform, greatly simplifying the monitoring and analysis processes.
IGIS covers all aspects of Hyundai and Kia's operations:
- Raw material extraction and supply.
- Production and transport.
- Vehicle operation.
- Post-life cycle disposal.
The launch of IGIS is an important step to comply with international environmental standards and improve the environmental sustainability of the entire business. The system will enable Hyundai and Kia to more accurately plan their environmental initiatives, work more effectively with suppliers and generally improve process transparency. It is also a step towards Hyundai Motor Company's strategic goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.
