Ukraine's defence industry has developed a new PTM-L1 high explosive mine with a warhead. A photo of the new product was posted by GrandpaRoy2 on his X-account.

Here's What We Know

The mine is adapted for remote mining with the help of drones. It is equipped with a magnetic fuze, which is similar to the mechanism of the Soviet anti-tank mine PTM-3.

The fuze operates by changing the magnetic field: when a vehicle runs over or drives over the mine, it detonates. Thanks to this fuze, the mine cannot be defused without detonation, as any interaction causes a detonation due to the Earth's magnetic field.

When the mine explodes, it forms an Explosively Formed Projectile (EFP) that can penetrate the hull of armoured vehicles, destroying the crew and internal systems.

Although the technical characteristics of the PTM-L1 remain classified, in April 2024, Militarny reported that Ukraine had developed a number of analogues of Soviet mines, including MON-50, MON-100, MON-200 and TM-62P.
