NetEase has repeatedly emphasised that the online action game Marvel Rivals will regularly feature new content, including characters, maps, modes and cosmetic modes. Thus, the first season started on January 10 and introduced two new characters - Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, and their "colleagues" - Human Torch and The Thing will join them in the second half of the season.

The same format the developers plan to stick to further.

Here's What We Know

Game Director Guangyun Cheng said that NetEase plans to add at least one character every half a season (six weeks).

Every season we will add fresh stories, maps and new characters. The season is divided into two halves and the total length of the season is three months. Within each half, a new character will be introduced. We just want to continue to improve the player experience and keep things interesting in the community.

Since there are a huge number of colourful characters in the Marvel universe, it's not easy for the developers to determine in what order to add them to the game, so they will be guided by the season's theme and players' wishes.

Guangyun Cheng said that when adjusting the balance of Marvel Rivals, the development team primarily monitors the win and loss percentage of specific characters and adjusts their abilities and capabilities according to these figures so that everyone is roughly equal.

NetEase plans to actively develop the Marvel Rivals cybersport direction as well and is already holding tournaments.

The shooter is available for free on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
