Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah group announced a combined drone and missile attack on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea.

Here's What We Know

According to the representative of the Houthi armed forces, Yahya Sari, the attack was carried out by cruise missiles and drones on the aircraft carrier and escort ships. He said this on the air of the Houthi-controlled Al-Masira TV channel.

The United States denied the attack on the aircraft carrier and escort ships. This is the sixth such statement by the Houthis since the deployment of the Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea in December 2024.

The aircraft carrier group is operating as part of Operation Prosperity Guardian, which aims to fight the Houthis, intercept missiles aimed at Israel, and strike ISIS terrorists in Syria and other regions.

Operation Prosperity Guardian was launched at the end of December 2023 to protect shipping in the Red Sea due to regular Houthi attacks on merchant ships. The mission involves the United States, the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, and Spain.

Since then, the Houthis have repeatedly attacked merchant and warships, and the international coalition has been conducting missile and air strikes on Houthi military targets.

Earlier it became known that the missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, accidentally shot down an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet while flying over the Red Sea.
