Tesla Model X electric car exceeds Basel police expectations

Police in the Swiss canton of Basel-Stadt have decided to extend the life of their seven Tesla Model X electric cars, which have been in service since 2019. The cars proved to be more robust than expected. These cars were originally planned to be replaced by the end of 2025.
Here's What We Know
Police spokesman Rooven Brucker told BZ Basel that the electric cars were supposed to be removed from the fleet after five years of use. In practice, however, the wear and tear proved to be much less than that of cars with internal combustion engines.
We are talking about seven Tesla Model X cars in the top 100 D modification at that time. At the time, it was the only electric model that met the requirements of the cantonal police. The cost of each model, including conversion for law enforcement purposes, was about 140,000 Swiss francs. The "civilian" Model X 100 D was priced at 90,700 Swiss francs at the time.
To date, each of these electric vehicles has covered more than 100,000 kilometres. No exact date has yet been set for their replacement. In the event of a new tender, Tesla will be able to participate. In total, the Kantonspolizei Basel-Stadt has a fleet of around 200 vehicles. Three years ago, eight Nissan Leafs joined the seven Tesla's, but only one of them wears the police livery.
