Another popular streaming service Amazon Music Unlimited is raising its prices.

Here's What We Know

For users who have a subscription to Amazon Prime, the price of an individual plan will increase from $10 to $11 per month or from $99 to $109 per year. Those who are not Prime members will now pay $12 per month for an individual plan instead of the previous $11. For family plans, prices have also changed: from $17 to $20 per month and from $169 to $199 per year.

The new pricing policy went into effect on 29 January for new users. Current subscribers will see the new rates in their next bill, which will arrive after 5 March.

The FAQ section explaining the price increase states that the changes will allow users to get "more content and features". The same explanation was given during the previous price increase in 2023. Since then, the service has added the ability to borrow audiobooks through Audible and receive personalised year-end summaries. While these innovations may be interesting, for many users it is more important that prices remain at the same level.

Amazon continues to fight for user loyalty among other popular streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music, and frequently updates its service with new features. However, with rising prices, the issue of affordability is becoming an issue for many subscribers, who may turn to other platforms if it proves to be more profitable.
