Apple may unveil iPhone SE 4 with first in-house 5G modem

Apple, after a series of leaks, seems to be preparing to announce its fourth generation iPhone SE this week. This will be an important update for the SE line, as the new iPhone SE will feature an OLED display, Face ID, and Apple's first in-house 5G modem manufactured by TSMC.
Here's What We Know
However, this step will not be without its limitations. According to a new report from South Korea, the iPhone SE 4 modem does not support mmWave 5G technology, unlike modern Qualcomm chips such as the Snapdragon X75. This means that the new iPhone SE 4 may offer slower data transfer compared to the iPhone 16 series, which is equipped with the Snapdragon X75 chip.
The modem developed by Apple in the first phase will probably not have the same channel combining capabilities as Qualcomm modems. This could result in slower download and upload speeds on the iPhone SE 4 compared to more powerful models.

This development comes as no surprise, as Apple has traditionally used modems from Intel and Qualcomm for its devices. The in-house modem will be used in the low-end model to test the new technology, which is likely to receive further improvements in future generations of iPhones.
According to rumours, Apple's first modem will support Dual Sim Dual Standby and tight integration with the company's main processors, which will ensure better energy efficiency.
Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook intrigued social media users with a new announcement. In his post, he wrote: "Get ready to meet a new family member" and added the hashtag #AppleLaunch. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the most likely announcement is the new iPhone SE.
