Avowed has abandoned romantic relationships to create more natural connections between the player and his companions

In a new interview, Avowed game director Kerry Patel told us why the game refused to allow romantic relationships between characters.
Here's What We Know
During an appearance on the IGN podcast, Patel noted that romantic options in RPGs can "undermine the core experience" of the game, forcing players to focus more on romance than on the plot and characters. The studio sought to create more natural connections between the player and their companions that don't end in bed.
"My goal is to make the relationships with companions in Avowed feel natural, and players get what they want based on how much effort they put in," Patel said. She compared it to the process of meeting new friends.
This sets Avowed apart from many other RPGs, especially with the popularity of the romance options in Baldur's Gate 3.
The game is available on PC, Xbox Series, and Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass services.
