The old dream of gamers about Half-Life 3 is getting closer to realisation.

Recall that on the 1st of January voice actor Mike Shapiro, whose voice is spoken by the iconic character G-Man from the Half-Life universe, published the first post in X since 2022, in which he claimed that 2025 may bring a surprise.

Well, there is another confirmation that Valve is preparing for an important announcement.

Here's What We Know

Authoritative dataminer and insider Tyler McVicker reported that he found in the program code of the major update 7.38 for Dota 2 a mention of identifiers and features related to optimisation and polishing of the project codenamed HLX, under which Half-Life 3 is believed to be hiding.

McVicker believes the new Half-Life 3 instalment could already be in the final stages of development and could be announced as early as this year, which completely correlates with Shapiro's hint.

Flashback

Dota 2 is based on Source 2 engine, which with 99% probability is used in Half-Life 3 development, so the changes made in one game may well be reflected in the source code of the other. It happens often in big studios, so Tyler McVicker's assumptions are not senseless.
