Sony has started providing compensation for the massive PlayStation Network outage that occurred in February 2025. PlayStation Plus subscribers started receiving five additional days of service.

Here's What We Know

On 8 February 2025, the PlayStation Network went down for almost 24 hours, the longest outage since the 2011 hacker attack. The problems affected key functions such as account management, online gaming, and access to the PlayStation Store. Sony attributed the incident to an "operational issue" without providing detailed explanations, but assured that user data was not affected.

Sony has promised to automatically add five days to the validity of PlayStation Plus subscriptions for all active users during the outage. The compensation has started to roll out gradually, and many players have already noticed a change in their subscription expiration date.

To check if you have received additional days:

On PS5, go to Settings > Users & Accounts > Account > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.

In the PS App, tap the PS Store icon, then open the menu in the top right corner and select Manage subscriptions.

Despite the compensation, many players are not satisfied. On social media, they criticise Sony for not being generous enough and suggest alternatives such as free games. Some users believe that five days is not enough compensation for the lost access to the service.

We would like to remind you that on 4 March, all PS Plus subscribers will be able to access the new games of March: Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
