Capcom has extended the licence for the Dino Crisis trademark, but don't expect a new game in the series

Capcom filed a new trademark application for Dino Crisis in March. However, despite the almost thirty-year history of the franchise, the enthusiasm of fans for the new instalment may be premature.
Here's What We Know
According to the Japanese watchdog site, this is not the first time Capcom has applied for the trademark renewal. It is known that the company regularly renews the rights to Dino Crisis, the last time it happened in 2021, when the original trademark of 1999 was renewed. This status will remain valid for another ten years.
In 2019, Capcom also filed a new trademark application in Japan, which raised fans' hopes for a return to the world of dinosaurs. However, no new game has been released since then, and the last release of the series took place more than 20 years ago.
Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil and Dino Crisis, expressed his surprise at the fans' desire to see a new game. In 2024, he said:
"I was very surprised to hear that fans want more Dino Crisis. I believe that the greatness of dinosaurs and the possibilities of working with them are already well implemented in Monster Hunter."
Mikami also emphasised that there is not much room for Dino Crisis-style games anymore, as Monster Hunter has filled that niche.
Despite the fact that Dino Crisis and its 2000 sequel have recently become available on GOG, fans are still waiting for new announcements. So far, Capcom has not made any official statements about the possible revival of the franchise.
