Rise of the Ronin director explains why the game became a PlayStation exclusive on consoles - Sony was involved in its development

The exclusivity of Rise of the Ronin for PlayStation was due to Sony's direct involvement in its development. This was announced by game director Fumihiko Yasuda and producer Yosuke Hayashi.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with RPG Site, the developers explained that although Sony had previously helped Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja with the publication and localisation of the Nioh series, its influence was much deeper in the case of Rise of the Ronin.
According to Yasuda, PlayStation Studios was actively involved in all stages of the PlayStation 5 version, providing recommendations on how to improve accessibility and player experience. This not only had a positive impact on the quality of the game, but also helped Team Ninja grow as a studio. Hayashi stressed that without PlayStation's support, this project might not have even been launched.
Yasuda also shared his thoughts on the changes in the Japanese gaming market. He noted that the Nintendo Switch remains an extremely popular platform in Japan, and he is looking forward to seeing how the situation will change after the release of Switch 2.
Where To Play
