God of War fans are sceptical about the future of the series when the showrunner of the adaptation said that he is not a gamer and could not complete the game

Video game adaptations already have successful examples with The Last of Us, Fallout, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Arcane. However, every new announcement of a TV series or film based on a game still causes scepticism among gamers. And the situation repeated itself when the showrunner of the upcoming God of War series, Ron Moore, admitted that he is not a gamer and did not complete the game in 2018.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with Katee Sackhoff, who noted that the God of War adaptation is a complex material, Moore replied: "Yeah, and I'm not a gamer. I tried to play God of War. I gave it a shot, but I grew up in the arcade era, where you went and threw coins and hit buttons. I can do that, I'll play Defender or Asteroids, sure, but these controllers now - press R1, where's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
This, of course, confused fans, who took it as a bad sign.
"Why do studios hire people who have no passion for the source material? There's a reason Peter Jackson made such great Lord of the Rings films... he really loved the books!" one user wrote on Twitter.
"So the show is already a flop? That's what made the Fallout and The Last of Us adaptations special: their showrunners loved the games and could fully appreciate what made them great," another player added.
Moore is an experienced writer and producer: he worked on Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and many other shows, and even won Emmy and Hugo awards. He is 100% familiar with the original story, so it's too early to panic.
Amazon has also ordered two seasons of God of War series even before the first one was released.
