The Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine and Czech companies COLT CZ and Česká Zbrojovka discussed the production of the Bren-2 rifle and the development of a new assault rifle.

Here's What We Know

The talks took place during a visit to the Czech Republic, where the Ukrainian delegation also met with representatives of PBS, OMNIPOL, LPP and AMOS. Minister Herman Smetanin said that cooperation with Czech companies is already yielding first results, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.

"We plan to deepen this cooperation: we are talking about transferring production facilities for the production of semi-automatic weapons in Ukraine. In the future, we plan to create a new Ukrainian assault rifle," the minister said.

As a reminder, in 2024, Ukraine started licensed assembly of CZ Bren-2 assault rifles. Currently, Ukrainian facilities can produce up to 400 units per day. The agreement with Česká Zbrojovka provides for the gradual localisation of production, which should eventually develop into full-scale production of NATO-standard weapons.

Earlier it became known that CZ Bren-2 is used by the military and law enforcement agencies of different countries. In Ukraine, these rifles are produced under the Sich brand.
