Saros, Housemarque's most ambitious project, was made possible by Sony

Housemarque has stated that their upcoming project Saros would not have been possible without Sony's support. In an interview with the Finnish edition of Helsingin Sanomat, the studio's CEO Ilari Kuittinen told how the acquisition of PlayStation affected the development.
Here's What We Know
According to him, although joining Sony brought new corporate processes, including compliance with new HR standards, the main achievement was a significantly increased budget. It is comparable to the costs of creating Alan Wake 2, which sold more than 2 million copies by the end of 2024 and fully recouped the development and marketing costs.
Thus, Saros will become the largest and most expensive project of Housemarque. It is a third-person sci-fi roguelike shooter. Players will take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a Soltari soldier investigating mysterious events on the Carcossa colony, which has been affected by a mysterious eclipse.
Unlike Returnal, Saros will feature a meta-progression system: players will be able to permanently upgrade their equipment and weapons. The game will also offer dynamically changing levels and a developed storyline with a large number of characters.
Where To Play
Saros is scheduled for release in 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and will also be optimised for PlayStation 5 Pro.
