More cyberattacks to come: North Korea forms special unit for large-scale hacking operations

We have already reported that thanks to the "diligent" work of hackers, Media: North Korea is among the top three largest holders of Bitcoin, thanks to its hackers terms of Bitcoin reserves, behind only the US and the UK. The DPRK government is known to sponsor and supervise the activities of hacker organisations and it looks like their activity will only increase.

Here's What We Know

Daily NK journalists reported that according to an unnamed source, the DPRK intelligence services are creating new units for offensive hacking operations. The unit is named Research Center 227 and is developing new ways to hack into digital systems and creating unconventional programmes to do so, including using AI.

Research Centre 227 studies Western networks and looks for weaknesses to strike at. They will work closely with other DPRK hacker groups, including those overseas.
