Along with the release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC, Naughty Dog has released a free update for the No Return roguelike mode, which is already available to try on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Here's What We Know

No Return mode is a roguelike mod that allows players to choose their own path and test their skills in a series of random combat encounters. Death in this mode means failure, so in case of defeat, the player loses all the resources gained and starts over.

The update includes four new maps:

  • Overlook: a location overlooking Seattle, known for clashes with seraphs.
  • The School: an abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina encountered the W.L.F.
  • Streets: an overgrown area of Hillcrest.
  • Nest: an infected building that Abby was cleaning up.

In addition, two new characters have been added:

  • Bill: has the Smuggler playstyle, is equipped with a pump-action shotgun, receives double drop rewards, is resistant to melee attacks, but cannot dodge.
  • Marlene: Risky playstyle, armed with an assault rifle, has the ability to change the route in No Return once per run.

Players can also unlock a new costume for Ellie - a jacket from the upcoming Intergalactic game: The Heretic Prophet, worn by Jordan A. Mun. This cosmetic item is available on PC and PS5 and can be unlocked for bonus points in the game, and on PC for logging into PSN.
