ChinaAccording to Nikkei report, Asian governments have begun tightening border controls because of the recent COVID-19 outbreak. As a result of travel problems and "limited engineering resources" in Vietnam, Google will have to continue production in China.
It is reported that the Pixel 5 smartphones were supposed to be assembled already in Vietnam, but the plans did not succeed. Moreover, the new Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will also be assembled in China - in Shenzhen city.
By the way, this isn't the only company stuck in the Middle Kingdom. Apple was also planning to move a small part of its MacBook and iPad production line to Vietnam, but cannot do so yet.
Recall, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will be officially unveiled in the fall, but no exact timeline yet. Both models will get Tensor SoC - proprietary system on chip designed for the new "Pixel". Google also promises Android 12, a new design, trim and an updated larger camera system.
