Enthusiasts have improved Windows 11 performance on an old Xiaomi smartphone
Back in early July, a group of enthusiasts were able to install the Windows 11 operating system on the 2018 flagship Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone. A month and a half later, they improved the OS's performance.
After installing Windows 11 on the phone, the touchscreen display and USB-C port stopped working. But in the meantime, the experts were able to fix a number of issues. Specifically, they added support for the GPU, integrated power management and tweaked the Wi-Fi adapter.
Enthusiasts don't plan to drop everything just yet. They will continue development and in the nearest future they will fix the problem with the Bluetooth driver and display of x64 programs.
Note that many 2018 smartphones that are equipped with a 10nm Snapdragon 845 processor have support for Windows 11. Apart from Xiaomi Mi 8, the operating system can be installed on Meizu 16, OnePlus 6, Xiaomi M Mix 3, Pocophone F1 and Samsung Galaxy S9, for example.
