Mark Gurman: Apple is working on a new Mac Pro with a proprietary chip on board that will be more powerful than the M1 Max
Yesterday, on October 18, Apple introduced MacBook Pro Apple unveiled the 5nm M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, now with up to 64GB of integrated memory!. The company is not going to stop there, they are preparing the next device with even more powerful SoC on the board.
What We Know
According to Bloomberg's reporter Mark Gurman, the Cupertinians are now working on a new Mac Pro desktop computer. The device is to come out with a new processor, which will have two versions. One will get 2 times more cores CPU and GPU, than the M1 Max, and the second - 4 times. That is, the chip in the top version will have up to 40 CPU cores and up to 128 GPU cores. Unfortunately, no other details of the new processor and computer are not available yet.
For those who think the M1 Pro and M1 Max in the MacBook Pro are impressive, the new Mac Pro desktop is expected to come in at least two variations: 2X and 4X the number of CPU and GPU cores as the M1 Max. That's up to 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores on the high-end.

Recall that the current generation Mac Pro was introduced in 2019. The computer has a modular design and case made of stainless steel and aluminum. The top-of-the-line version boasts a 28-core Intel Xeon CPU, 1.5TB of RAM as 12 modules (six channels), four Radeon Pro Vega II cards with up to 58 teraflops, a pair of 4TB SSD storage, and a 1.4 kW power supply.
