iFixit experts poked fun at Apple and assessed the repairability of... $20 screen cleaning cloth
Apple recently held another fall presentation, one of the most talked about novelties of which is a screen cleaning cloth. In essence, it is an ordinary cloth, but with the logo "apple" and a price tag of $19. iFixit specialists did not overlook it and did a mock dissection.
And
how? iFixit couldn't resist and trolled Apple by taking a picture of wiping the smartphone screen
Next, they took the case seriously and scrutinized the napkin. It even had to be cut open to find out that it was an ordinary microfiber cloth. More specifically, two cloths sewn together, so if you're feeling sorry for the $19 spent, just cut the layers - and get two cloths for $9.5 each.
"Under the microscope, Apple's top quality polishing cloth comes to life. On the left you'll see a plain old cleaning cloth. Boring. On the right? Tiny fibers, intricately woven together, come together to become not just a cleaning tool, but a piece of beauty worthy of the cleaning itself. Amidst the beauty, a fine line gracefully outlines the shape of humanity's main fruit - apple", - continue iFixit's sarcastic description.
But it's time to return from heaven to earth: the cloth scored 0 for repairability out of the standard 10 possible.
"The new Apple Polishing Cloth gets a 0 out of 10 on our repairability scale for distracting us from the very important MacBook Pro disassembly and not sewing it back together after we cut it into pieces with scissors", - summarized by iFixit
Well, you can't even argue...
