Due to component shortages, iPhone 14 could be the first new flagship in Apple's history on an older single-chip system.
What's known
The iPhone 14 family is expected to be unveiled in early fall 2022. The next-generation smartphones could get Apple's old (at the time of the announcement) A15 Bionic mobile platform, which debuted in the iPhone 13, for the first time.
It was previously reported that Apple will use the 3-nanometer A16 Bionic single-chip system in 2022. But Taiwanese giant TSMC has encountered manufacturing difficulties that have triggered delays in the delivery of the new chips.
Although TSMC will be the first to launch production of the 3-nanometer processors, the A16 Bionic chips will not be available for the iPhone 14 smartphones.
