Military start-up Primer raises $69m to build AI for real-time threat detection
US startup Primer has announced a new Series D funding round totalling $69m, with Addition and the US Innovative Technology Foundation (USIT) as lead investors.
Here's What We Know
Primer develops software for intelligence gathering and analysis using large language models. The popular ChatGPT chatbot from OpenAI runs on similar algorithms.
The company describes its Primer Command product as a "real-time threat detection" platform. It includes a dashboard of "60,000 news and social media sources in 100 languages".
Primer Command provides situation reports created by artificial intelligence. The system generates summaries of new events "in seconds", the developers claim.
Primer also launched the Primer Delta platform in April. This tool is designed to sort and analyse millions of natural language documents in seconds.
Primer Delta can "reliably retrieve objects and locations, find information and generate comprehensive summaries". The tool works locally or in the cloud.
