More than 1,300 UK experts have named artificial intelligence as a force for good
More than 1,300 experts have signed an open letter stating that artificial intelligence is "force for good, not a threat to humanity".

The letter was drafted by the BCS organisation to oppose the "AI doom". BCS chief executive Rashik Parmar that the UK tech community does not believe in the "nightmare scenario of evil robot overlords".
In March, technology leaders including Elon Musk signed a letter calling for a pause in the development of powerful systems. They said that super-intelligent AI posed an "existential risk".
However, the BCS sees the situation in a more positive light, while supporting the need for regulations on artificial intelligence. It also emphasises that the UK could lead the way in setting professional and technical standards for AI.
