Google Meet has unveiled an artificial intelligence that can attend a meeting instead of the user
Google has unveiled a Duet AI-powered feature for Meet that can summarise meetings and "swap" attendees if they are late or absent.
Here's What We Know
Google's Duet is trained to take notes in real time. To do this, users need to tap on the "Take notes for me" button and the app will write down summaries and action items as the meeting progresses.
If the user is late for the meeting, Google will be able to generate interim results of the call. During the call, the participant will be able to chat with a chatbot to clarify missed details.
In addition, Duet allows you to save a summary of the meeting in Docs. The document can also include video clips of important points.
Note taking will be coming to Google Workspace Labs in the coming months.
Another new Meet feature allows Duet to "attend" a meeting on behalf of the user. In a meeting invitation, you can click "Attend for me" and enter talking points for the video call participants to discuss.
The feature could be useful for users who have multiple meetings scheduled for the same time. However, people can abuse the technology and send bots on calls when it's not necessary. To prevent this, Meet will be able to end the call if too many bots come to the meeting.
This feature will be coming to Labs next year.
