The Spotify service is experimenting with automatically creating playlists on user demand, presumably using artificial intelligence technology.
Here's What We Know
Designer Chris Messina found mentions of the "AI Playlist" feature and the text "Get playlists based on your prompts" in the source code of the Spotify app.
The new feature could be an analogue to ChatGPT for generating playlists based on text descriptions. Messina also speculated that it will be integrated into Spotify's Blend service, where users can collaboratively mix music preferences.
Spotify had previously tested a similar feature called Niche Mixes in March. However, it did not use AI, but was based on personalisation algorithms.
The company has not yet commented on the testing of new AI-based tools.
