Microsoft has announced a partnership with news publication Semafor for its Signals project. Within its framework, journalists will use chatbot ChatGPT as a tool for creating analytical materials.
Here's What We Know
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Signals plans to produce up to a dozen articles a day on topical issues, with all content created exclusively by humans. Artificial intelligence will only help in the search for information, the company claims.
In particular, journalists will be able to quickly find news in different languages and from different countries. The system will automatically translate them and prepare them for inclusion in the material with added context.
According to Microsoft spokeswoman Noreen Gillespie, the use of AI tools is necessary for journalists to survive in competition with chatbots.
At the same time, the use of ChatGPT in the media is controversial because of the possibility of "hallucinations" and generation of untrue information. The New York Times previously sued Microsoft and OpenAI for using the publication's articles to train chatbots.
