Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1: new processors for low-cost smartphones
Qualcomm has announced two new processors for low-cost smartphones.
Here's What We Know
Novelties are called Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. That is, the first chip is the successor to the 600-series Snapdragon, and the second - the 400-series. SoC 6 Gen 1 is built on a 4-nanometer process. It runs at a maximum frequency of 2.2 GHz and, according to Qualcomm, 35% better graphics processing. Overall, the performance of the chip has increased by 40% compared to the previous SoC.
As for the 4 Gen 1 processor, it uses 6nm technology and runs at a maximum frequency of 2.0 GHz. According to the company, the chip has received 15% better CPU and 10% better GPU. With what SoC they compare, Qualcomm does not say, but most likely it is Snapdragon 480/480+. By the way, the novelties have a 5G modem Snapdragon X51 5G, support for cameras with up to 200 MP resolution and displays with up to 120 Hz refresh rate.
When We Can Expect It
The first smartphones with Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip will be released within next three months, but the devices based on Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 will have to wait until the first quarter of 2023.
